Using mencoder to create flash movie from jpgs

To create a flv video from some still camera shots

I ran across the web page for the yosemite cam awhile back, and liked the link to the daily mp4 movies. So I deceided to try and do this myself.
There are two things to be done.

  1. Capture some images
  2. I wrote a quick little bash script todo this

    mkdir ahwahnee
    s=60
    dir=ahwahnee
    while true ; do
    d=`date +%Y%m%d-%H%M%S` ;
    wget -O "$dir/ahwahnee$d.jpg" http://yosemite.org/vryos/ahwahnee.jpg ;
    sleep $s ;
    done

  3. Convert to a Movie
  4. Now using the multiple file(mf://) trick with mencoder, I create a 5 fps 350Kbbps movie with
    mencoder -profile jpg2flv “mf://ahwahnee20080128-*.jpg” -o day.flv
    Where the jpg2flv profile is

    [jpg2flv]
    profile-desc="	VIDEO	use 'mf://*.jpg' lavc flash, high quality, 5fps"
    #	Image conversion
    mf=fps=5
    #	Video
    ovc=lavc=1
    lavcopts=vcodec=flv:keyint=500:vbitrate=320:mbd=2:mv0=1
    lavcopts=trell=1:v4mv=1:cbp=1:aic=1:cmp=3:subcmp=3
    vf=hqdn3d=2:1:2
    of=lavf=1
    lavfopts=format=flv
